Fun for Christmas - Notes from a mother

A couple of gems of wisdom that my daughter has let fall recently:

Nan was sitting next to number 1 daughter at tea time.  One of her current obsessions is with babies and where they come from. She was asking whose tummy she came out of and I explained she came out of my tummy.  Impressed, she asked whose tummy I had come out of. ‘I came out of nan’s tummy’ I said, ‘and so did Uncle Greg.’  Daughter's eyes widened and she leant over to inspect the tummy in question…

‘Nan I think your tummy is still a little bit fat – I think there might be another baby left in there.’

The other current obsession is with ‘what I can do when I am 4’.  When she reaches this what is to her a mythical age, she has been told she might be able to sleep over at her best friend's house and she can have a pet.  We have discussed the type of pet which is somewhat limited by dad’s allergy to fur. This means it will need to be a largely outdoor pet. We were talking about this and chatting about what she would like in terms of type and number of animals.  A guinea pig was put forward as the best option.  ‘Yes’ she said, ‘but daddy will that make you sneeze?’ ‘Yes’ came the reply ‘but it will be alright if it lives outside.’

‘...Perhaps you could live in the shed daddy?’

…Now there’s an idea!
